Eugenio Apaza, 14 June by Ercilia Mamani Quisbert

Eugenio Apaza, 14 June

Ercilia Mamani Quisbert · 2011

A single pour, poured in the plywood darkbox and exposed at two metres from the pithead stool, holds the sitter's eyes sharp and lets the ears fall soft. Three comet streaks run down from the top edge into the hair and a band of bare aluminium crosses the lower left corner where the collodion pulled short. The name, the date and the wind direction are written on the back in grease pencil; there is no print of this plate.

Condition note

The thumbprint at the bottom right is hers, made while the plate was still wet, and it sits on the shirt seam.
