Every mark is short dry-brush, the edges frayed where the loaded brush ran out, and the plaster grit breaks the ochre passages throughout. Both upper corners are chipped to cement board and the craquelure runs left to right with the length of the panel.]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[Aquamarine and pale bottle-green shards run as banded diagonals from the left edge and fold into a single eddy set right of centre, where the courses close to 2 mm joints and turn back on themselves. Plates of Carrara white, cut larger than the surrounding glass, are shoved across the upper left in overlapping wedges; rust brown and bottle amber fill a shoal along the lower right. All backs were ground before setting, and the whole face was laid reversed on paper and grouted in the mortar's own grey.]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[The shards are 8 to 20 mm, cut from crazed porcelain bells and aquamarine insulator glass, their curved backs ground flat on a diamond wheel before being laid face-down in wheat paste and mortared from behind. Aquamarine courses run level across the top third and thin downward as white Carrara and its grey veining take over, until the last 300 mm turn to rust brown, amber and mortar grey set in shorter courses. One line of black basalt runs plumb from the top edge and stops 40 mm above the bottom.]]></description>

Ash has run twice down the taller jar and stopped in a bead above the foot; pinholes cluster where the slip went on thick. Each carries one incised line round the shoulder, drawn at different heights, and neither jar is glazed inside.]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[The jar is coiled from clay cut out of the river bank up the road, paddled to a high shoulder that sits about two centimetres off true, and left unglazed inside. Ash green has thinned over rutile straw down the belly, iron slip has pooled liver brown inside the throat lip, and the foot is bare pumice grey with grit standing out of it. One needle-thin line, incised once round the shoulder, wavers and closes a finger's width above where it started.]]></description>

Eleven woven strips are stitched vertically, so every seam breaks each band and carries it 1 to 3 mm out of true.]]></description>
