MF-006

Rain Column Empty
Bolaji Fagbemi · 2022
Fourteen bands, each about 11 cm deep, run the full width of the cloth in two- and three-dip indigo, with one four-dip band a third of the way up. The right-hand 46 cm carries no dye at all: cassava paste was drawn over the last three bands and the cloth went into the pit reserved, so the cotton stays unbleached and holds only the crackle veining left by the paste. Twenty-seven vertical seams cross the field at 14 cm intervals, the last strip a 6 cm offcut at the right edge.
Condition note
The pale right end is not unfinished; it is paste, and the veining there is the only drawing in that 46 cm.
